Stray dogs

Two serious attacks on children in the Bair neighborhood within one month (February-March 2026). Citizens protested and demanded urgent collection of stray dogs.

Department for Construction-Urbanistic Inspection
Increased supervision of construction, municipal hygiene, and illegal buildings. Active controls based on citizen reports.
Air pollution
REK Bitola + industrial facilities + households
Bitola faces polluted air, especially in winter. REK Bitola, industry, and wood heating are main sources. PM particles several times above allowed levels.
Water supply
JKP Vodovod Bitola (dir. Andrej Ginov)
Old water supply network with frequent defects and interruptions. Asbestos pipes being replaced with HDPE, but the process is slow.
Tow truck not working

The tow truck has not been working for over a year. Sidewalks and green areas occupied by illegally parked vehicles.
Asphalt quality

Newly asphalted streets dug up in short time. Flooding during heavy rain due to insufficient drainage.

End of 2025 brought significant increases in municipal prices. For a family with 1 child, the monthly bill grows by up to ~2,500 MKD.

Bitola, with 74,550 residents, is directly affected by mass youth emigration. In 20 years, 77,000+ young people left Macedonia.
